Post by NASA-Tom »

The new, Second-Generation Tarsacci is released...... and here. Details/Nutshell =

1. It is called Tarsacci MDT-8000 DX
2. $1750.00 USD
3. Measurably deeper
4. Adjustable Tone Break(s)
5. Adjustable iron Volume. (Adjustable non-ferrous/conductive Volume also)
6. Not a VLF
7. Specifically targets bad dirt.......... and Salt/saltwater
8. Enhanced SNR
9. Enhanced stability
10. New OS (Operating System)..... to include: some of the new algorithms
11. Which means: Old units can not be 'upgraded' to the new OS..... however =
12. Old coils (and phones) ARE compatable with the new Operating System
13. Enhanced threshold
14. Uses the same battery (with fairly close to the same batt life expectancy
15. Same housing (yet, even further enhanced IP-68 waterproof)

Dimitar and his team...... have not had a chance to update the web-site (yet).

Sounds good.
For those who own the original, perhaps Dimitar will consider selling just the control head without shaft or coil. I could figure out a way to justify expense. $1750 would be out of consideration.

Well, it's been a while (about 2 months) since the small flurry of posts in June about the new DX version of the Tarsacci MDT 8000.

I was hoping that by now we would see some actual user experiences with it. I'm sure we'd all like to learn what it means
that it's "Measurably deeper", and whether that's only true with new coils or also with the old coils. And how well do the new sound options work?

How about it? Does anyone out there have one? If so, how's it going?

Hopefully NASA Tom or another member will get one & report. I wish the upgrade was available for my original version.

I DID talk to Dimitar; yet, I have not acquired a Gen-2 Tarsacci.
I DO know that the additional depth of the unit.....with the older/existing coils..... is deeper. There is no difference in depth performance with old coils......VS.......new coils.
And we DO know that Gen-1 Tarsacci's cannot be upgraded to Gen-2 Tarsacci status.

Yes, I agree on both counts. It sounds intriguing but the price is just not practical for me either. I would like to see if they would agree to sell the housing since everything else is compatible. I would think that original owners would adapt to the new model quicker, and be the best word of mouth for Dimitar & Co.
