Got a Vanquish 540 and and am surprised....

Post by Rick, N. MI »

I'm very surprised how well it performs in my mild dirt. I didn't expect it do so well. Even the 5x8 coil hits hard on my 9" test dime. It doesn't hit the 10" dime though.

I don't care for the 9x12 coil. For me 5x8 coils performs better. I'm going to have to get the 7x10 coil and give it a try. I would like to see detectors go back to standard 8" or 9" round coils again. Don't like the big coils.

I like how light it is with the 5x8 coil.

Any thoughts from those who have the Vanquish 540.

Vanquished 540 goes deep, very stable ID numbers, light weight, easy to operate, works great in my local parks, even my salt water beach……it’s only caveat is not good in Iron.

The Vanquish 540 is a great detector. I've owned several, but I prefer the 3 tones of the 440 so that's what I use. Even the 340 has similar, if not the same, performance as the 440 and 540. Don't hunt in iron, so haven't seen it as an issue. Who knows what will happen to the Vanquish series now that the Xterra Elite, with SMF, is on the scene...
