Re: Tom, are you only using the M8 on land and beach?
Yes Tom, that's a good hunting practice to remember. I see GB numbers ranging from 5 at the water's edge to the high 20's on top of a slope filled with loose shells. At times I have used auto tracking when walking up and down the slope but prefer the fixed GB after a water's edge balance.

Re: Tom, are you only using the M8 on land and beach?
Tom... Do you use a threshold while hunting the salt beach? I have heard of some people using one, but I find the extra noise to be more than I need especially with high sensitivity. I currently have the sensitivity around 26 to 28 on the wet sand with the M8 and just a hint of threshold at 3. Thank...

Re: Tom D... Any new thoughts?
Hello Okara What setup did you use? Here there are beaches that vary greatly in salinity and this art of shells and coral remains In these dirtier areas the automatic LB has been more interesting for me. I spend 95% of the time in water up to my neck in surf I have been using Tom's settings since I...

Re: Tom D... Any new thoughts?
I used the M8 today in the saltwater and was running sensitivity around 23 / 24. Good target on this 18k open earring, weighing 1.7 grams.
The M8 certainly likes the small stuff. Trying to size things to be accepted on the forum

Re: Tom D... Any new thoughts?
Thanks for your input, Tom! When I used the Equinox for 5 years, I never used auto tracking on the sand but occasionally did in the water. And when gold hunting out West, I never used auto tracking no matter how hot the ground was as I couldn't take a chance of tuning out the faint targets. Anxious ...

Re: Tom D... Any new thoughts?
Tom... I ground balance near the water's edge here on the Gulf side of Fl. Averaging around a #13. Beach LC. The sand is dense and lacking any shells. As I walk up the slope, I start to encounter layers of shells etc. and a GB can be as high as the 30's. Because of this I have been using the auto tr...

Re: Tom D... Any new thoughts?
Thanks for the information Tom. I'm in the water unless it is too rough or there are some nice cuts. Always thinking... Chains, but they are elusive. We all know there are loads of them out there but securing them is another challenge. I'll give it a try as to a higher sensitivity on the wet sand bu...
